Crucially, we can now refer to accurate records of calls relating to projects which can be involved and run over a lengthy periodDWPF
Located in Grosvenor Place in the heart of London’s Belgravia, DWPF Ltd is an established financial advisory firm specialising in structuring and arranging project finance, primarily in the PFI and PPP markets.
In recognition of its innovative, flexible and common sense approach to transactions, DWPF has previously been voted best financial adviser in the prestigious Public Private Finance Awards.
With a decade of experience, DWPF has provided independent advice on over 100 completed deals, raising in excess of £4bn of financing in the process.
Clients include construction and facilities management firms, private equity houses, infrastructure funds and other investors. The majority of transactions DWPF has worked on have financing requirements in the range of £20m to £200m.
Its services are provided from project inception and solution formulation, through the procurement process, structuring and negotiation of financing, all the way to financial close.
Typical transactions include partnership projects where the private sector delivers buildings, services or products to the public sector customer, using project finance to fund the initial delivery of assets and long-term service provision.
One of its innovative ‘products’ has become a market leader in the university sector having been used to raise in excess of £1bn of financing in the market.
By their very nature, publicly procured contracts can involve detailed and lengthy negotiations – often involving DWPF for a period of up to two years. DWPF is committed to streamlining this process wherever possible through the adoption of new ideas, product innovation, and by the application of experience.
The prime requirement for call recording was to be able to log and, where necessary, refer back to calls relating to projects. In instances where a business can invest huge resources and lengthy periods defining and closing a contract, being able to rapidly refer back to details is fundamental in safeguarding against any miscommunication. In addition to improving process efficiency and accuracy, in extreme cases it can help safeguard against anyone reneging on an action agreed over the phone.
David Wylde, managing director of DWPF, explained: “Previously, there had been occurrences where it would have been extremely beneficial to be able to revisit telephone conversations accurately.
“This alerted us to the potential benefits of installing a call recording system in order to resolve any potential disputes rapidly and professionally.”
In addition, conference calls and formal meetings which form a regular and in some instances crucial part of negotiations, often create a series of actions. Call recording is an ideal way of being able to record, track and monitor outcomes.
DWPF comprises 13 staff in total, including five directors, financial modellers and administrative staff.
As a result of several full scope meetings with DWPF, Liquid Voice recommended a solution which would provide call recording facilities covering the 13 members of staff and the two conference meeting rooms.
Liquid Voice installed the system at DWPF’s convenience without disruption to the business and provided training to the administrators and users.
“Call recording is now being accepted as industry standard so it has not created any issues with clients,” David commented.
“This can be a very traditional sector and, although I could see the potential benefits from the outset, some of my colleagues had initial reservations.
“It may mean that people are more guarded in their conversations but in the interest of accuracy and professionalism, this is no bad thing.
”Our Office Manager, who administers and supervises the system, finds it very straightforward and easy to use.
“Crucially, we can now refer to accurate records of calls relating to projects which can be involved and run over a lengthy period.”
